White Castle USA Slider Search returns to Greater Boston area
Lake Placid (FIL/USA Luge) White Castle USA Slider Search traditionally uses sleds on wheels to search for future national team members and Olympians during the summer and fall.
On September 10 and 11, 2022, the talent search will come to the Boston suburb of Medway, Massachusetts. Demand for participation is high.
White Castle, the nation's first fast food chain, is a sponsor of USA Luge and is excited to bring this fun recruitment opportunity to John D. McGovern Elementary School at 9 Lovering Street in Medway.
White Castle has been the exclusive sponsor of Slider Search since 2017 and hosts the luge team's off-season recruiting events. The events are free, and each participant receives a cool White Castle USA Luge Slider Search t-shirt.
USA Luge's main recruiting event, geared toward boys and girls ages 9 to 13, will be held in Medway from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Medway is one of many stops on the summer and autumn recruitment tour across the country. On 17 September 2022, the White Castle USA Slider Search event will also still be held in Massena, NY.
Zack Digregorio, 2022 Olympian and Medway local, will serve as coach along with Chevonne Forgan of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Forgan won a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships in women's doubles with teammate Sophie Kirkby of Ray Brook, N.Y.
Other Slider Search graduates include Erin Hamlin, a 2014 Olympic bronze medalist and four-time World Championships medalist who was identified during a Slider Search in 1999, and Brian Martin, a 1998 Olympic bronze medalist and 2002 Olympic silver medalist who was discovered during a Slider Search in 1987.
Eight members of the 2010 USA Olympic team, six athletes from the 2014 USA Olympic team, six lugers from the 2018 Olympic team and four from the current Beijing team were graduates of this talent search.
