USA Luge names Olympic team: Chris Mazdzer participates for the 4th time

USA Olympic team, Beijing 2022

Lake Placid (USA Luge / FIL) The wait is over for Chris Mazdzer. The Pyeongchang 2018 silver medallist will receive his fourth Olympic nomination after the International Luge Federation (FIL) confirmed on Monday (10 January) that the USA will receive three starters for the men's individual Olympic race in Beijing.
A total of seven EBERSPÄCHER World Cups, which started on the Olympic track in Beijing at the Yanqing National Sliding Center beginning in November and ended last weekend in Sigulda, Latvia, were considered for the decision. Each team was allowed to count its best four out of seven competitions in each discipline.
It was not clear in the final days whether the USA would be allowed to field two or the maximum number of three men in the singles. Tucker West and Jonny Gustafson already met the national nomination criteria for Team USA in December. While Chris Mazdzer did not meet all the criteria after his injury. By earning the third star spot on the men's side, USA Luge can now also send Mazdzer to the Winter Olympics for a fourth time.
This completes the list of US athletes nominated to the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC).
The following athletes from the USA will be nominated to the USOPC for the Beijing Winter Olympics:
