Vatra Dornei (PMA) Patrick Pigneter claims the Overall World Cup victory on Natural track for the tenth time in a row. The Italian fixes his title with a win at fifth GRM Group Luge World Cup race at Vatra Dornei (ROU). Ladies race was won by Russian Ekaterina Lavrentyeva on the track “Bucovina”. She is celebrating her fourth victory this season. Only current World Champion Evelin Lanthaler (ITA) can prevent the Russian winning Overall World Cup at Umhausen. Lanthaler finished second in Vatra Dornei. Third place went to Austria and Tina Unterberger. Men’s race ended with an Italian one-two victory. Alex Gruber finished second behind winner Pigneter. Michael Scheikl (AUT) finished third. He was the only athlete who could have avoided Pigneter’s Overall World Cup win theoretical. Scheikl had to finish in front of Pigneter in Vatra Dornei. Team event was won by Italy (Lanthaler/Gruber/Pigneter/Clara) in front of Russia (Lavrentyeva/Kovshik/Egorov/Popov) and Romania (Burlui/Tazlaoanu/Codin/Coubis).
