Yanqing (FIL/22 Feb 2025) Selina Egle and Lara Kipp have won the Overall World Cup for the first time in their careers. The two athletes from Austria also triumphed in the final of the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup in Yanqing - their seventh victory in nine races. They also underlined their dominance with two fastest times in the two final runs, in a total time of 1:59.896 minutes. With 59.842 seconds in the second run, they broke the track record for the second time that day. "Mega, mega cool! That was the perfect end to a perfect season," said front woman Egle. With regard to the future, Kipp said: "Now we will start preparing for the Olympic Games. I hope that we can be just as successful there as we were on the Beijing Olympic track."

Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal were 75 points behind before the final and still had a chance of winning the overall title. And the two Germans got off to a promising start, setting a new start record of 7.039 seconds. But as the run progressed, they made mistake after mistake. Even with the second-best run time behind Egle/Kipp in the second run, no more than second place was possible with a gap of 1.825 seconds. "I'm totally satisfied," said Degenhardt, "we've mostly finished second this season." Anda Upite and Zane Kaluma from Latvia finished third (1.966 seconds behind).

USA's Chevonne Forgan and Sophia Kirkby came in 2.165 seconds behind, ahead of Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer. The Beijing race of the two Italians was a perfect representation of their season: They were unable to defend their title due to a lack of consistency. After the third-best run time in the first run, they fell back due to too many mistakes and only the fifth-fastest run. Overall, they came in 3.845 seconds behind their successors Egle/Kipp.
