Safe Sport Day on August 8th
Berchtesgaden (FIL/08 Aug 2024) This year's Safe Sport Day on August 8, 2024 marks an important milestone as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the International Safeguards for Children in Sport. This initiative has made great strides in realizing the vision of safe sport. Despite the progress that has been made in protecting all those involved in sport, much remains to be done to eliminate abuse and safety issues and create a positive, safe and trusting culture at all levels of sport.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety of participants in our sport every day. Get involved and join #TeamSafeSport too! #SafeSportDay24”, Stephen Harris, FIL Sport Integrity Manager, calls on the FIL family to participate in the Safe Sport Day social media campaign.
“We firmly believe that protecting the integrity of the sport of luge and the health and wellbeing of all participants in our sport is of paramount importance. Our Safe Sport motto is: Prevent - Protect - Perform,” continues Steve Harris. This protection includes the development of best-in-class guidelines, awareness, education, enforcement and research to ensure a positive, safe and trustworthy sporting experience for all involved in the sport of luge.
The FIL encourages all sports, their national federations and clubs worldwide to create the necessary framework for safe sport, as every athlete has the human right to be protected and to thrive in a positive sporting environment.
Join our commitment to make sport safe every day and be part of the change - not only on #SafeSportDay24.
