PyeongChang Olympic Sliding Center to host International Events – Agreement signed on February 16, 2025

PyeongChang (FIL/17 Feb 2025) The PyeongChang Olympic Sliding Center is strengthening its role as a leading winter sports center in Asia through a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the International Luge Federation (FIL) and other key stakeholders. The agreement to continuously host World Cup and international luge events until 2030 was signed on February 15, 2025 at the Alpensia Convention Center and is designed to secure the Olympic legacy and promote sustainable operations.
The MOU aims to maximize the use of the PyeongChang Olympic Sliding Center and ensure its sustainability as a global competition venue. Formalizing the agreement between the FIL, Gangwon Province, PyeongChang County, the Korean Luge Federation (KLF) and the PyeongChang 2018 & Gangwon 2024 Foundation (PGLF) will ensure the facility serves as a key venue for international luge events, including Luge World Cups and other major competitions.

A key pillar of this development program is the support of the IOC Olympic Solidarity program, which partners with FIL to foster the growth of luge in the Asian region. Through this collaboration, the program helps develop infrastructure, coaching expertise, and athlete training opportunities, ensuring a strong foundation for the sport of luge in the region.
The cooperation agreement until 2030 was signed by Einars Fogelis, President of the International Luge Federation (FIL), Changhwan Son, Director of Global Affairs for Gangwon Province, Jaekook Sim PyeongChang County Mayor, Soon gil Lim, President of the Korean Luge Federation (KLF) and Sunggu Kang, Secretary General of the PyeongChang 2018 & Gangwon 2024 Legacy Foundation (PGLF).
