Olympic medalist Alex Gough President of Luge Canada
Calgary (FIL) The Luge Canada board has appointed two-times Olympic medallist Alex Gough as the acting President until the next election in June 2022. This was decided after Steve Harris stepped down as President of Luge Canada to take a staff role as High Performance Manager, while Sam Edney will be on parental leave.
In addition to Alex Gough, Canada's second-best female luger will also sit on the board. Calgary's Kim McRae will take on the role of athlete representative on the board.
The 6-time World Championship’s medallist Alex Gough: “It’s important for me to give back to the Luge Canada organization and I’m excited for the opportunity to serve as president as Steve Harris changes roles within the organization”.
Alex Gough from Calgary, Alberta, is a two-time Olympic medallist. The 34-year old won bronze in the women's singles and silver in the team relay with Sam Edney, Tristan Walker and Justin Snith at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
