It was a big day for Alex Gruber. The reigning world champion in natural track luge tied the knot on Saturday. Gruber, who ended his successful career in 2023, married his long-time partner Anna Rabensteiner.

Berchtesgaden (FIL/04.06.2024) – Wedding bells rang for Alex Gruber on Saturday at the parish church in Sarns near Brixen (Italy). The 31-year-old from Villanders walked his fiancée Anna down the aisle. Many of Gruber's companions were invited to the celebratory ceremony, including world champion Evelin Lanthaler, new mother Greta Pinggera, overall World Cup winner Patrick Pigneter, and Florian Clara.

The newlyweds are now off to their well-deserved honeymoon, with a safari in Kenya on the agenda.

Alex Gruber became world champion for the third time in singles at the 2023 World Championships in Deutschnofen/Nova Ponente (Italy), having previously won in 2017 (Vatra Dornei/Romania) and 2019 (Latzfons/Italy). With 14 World Cup victories, Gruber ranks fourth on the all-time list, behind Pigneter (54), Thomas Kammerlander (27/Austria), and Anton Blasbichler (20/Italy).
