Max Langenhan Siegfahrt Yanqing 2025

Yanqing (FIL/23 Feb 2025) Max Langenhan left no doubt as to who would win the Overall World Cup at the final of the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup in Yanqing. With best times in both runs and a total run time of 1:55.051 minutes, the World Champion from Germany confidently defended his lead in the overall standings. With his 18th World Cup victory, he was well ahead of his competitors Nico Gleirscher (Austria) and team-mate Felix Loch, who could both still have snatched his second crystal globe away from him. Gleirscher finished fifth (0.769 seconds behind), and Loch eighth (1.154 seconds back). ”I'm super happy with this race,” said a delighted Langenhan, “it was an outstanding season, with three gold medals at the World Championships and the Overall World Cup victory.”

He scored 716 points in the final standings, Gleirscher 613. The Austrian was by no means unhappy: “I'm happy with second place in the World Cup, even if the last two races weren't so much on my side. I was so ill the day before the race that I thought I wouldn't be able to race at all.” Loch (547) remained third, having collected two points more than Jonas Müller.

Once again, the Austrian team's collective unity was outstanding. Jonas Müller finished second in the race, 0.532 seconds behind winner Langenhan, ahead of David Gleirscher (0.582). “I'm super happy with second place in the race,” said Müller, “I could have been going for victory, but I made a stupid mistake in the second run.” Italy's Dominik Fischnaller (0.648) finished fourth ahead of Nico Gleirscher and Latvia's Kristers Aparjods (1.004).
