Matthias Böhmer

Berchtesgaden (FIL/15 Oct, 2022) Matthias Böhmer will be available to the Artificial Track Directors as an assistant in the 2022/23 season.

On the one hand, this is intended to relieve the workload of the directors, but on the other hand, it is also intended to compensate as best as possible for a prevention of one of the two directors. In addition, the 32-year-old from Berchtesgaden will also take over the COVID-19 agendas of the FIL in the competitions of the General Class.

Matthias Böhmer was an active luge athlete from 1998 to 2009 and a bobsled pilot from 2009 to 2015. In bobsleigh he achieved some top-3 results in the European Cup and at Junior World Championships for WSV Königssee.

From 2020 until the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing 2022, Matthias Böhmer was head coach of the British bobsledders - Team GB and the Australians. At the same time, he was the youngest head coach at the Beijing Olympics.

Prior to that, the graduate coach worked as team manager and coach at the German Bobsleigh and Sledding Federation BSD from 2016 to 2020.

As Race Director of various luge, bobsleigh and skeleton World Cups and Championships, including the 2016 FIL Luge World Championships at Koenigssee, Matthias Boehmer has professionally demonstrated his organizational talent and expertise in the staging of international Championships on several occasions.
