Lillehammer to host the European Championships for the first time

Lillehammer

Lillehammer (RWH) The Hunderfossen bob and skeleton track in Lillehammer, Norway, is set to host its first ever European Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL). The only artificial ice track in Scandinavia, it was the venue for the 1994 Winter Olympic Games and the Youth Olympic Games in 2016. The FIL World Championships were staged in Lillehammer in 1995.

The European Championships in women’s, men’s, doubles and team relay luge will be staged using a race-in-race mode during the Viessmann World Cup.

2020 marks the tenth occasion that the Hunderfossen bob and skeleton track will host a Viessmann World Cup. At the most recent event in the winter of 2017/2018, the USA’s Summer Britcher won the women’s race, the Italian Dominik Fischnaller took victory in the men’s race, while Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken (GER) reigned supreme in the doubles.
