LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (USA Luge/FIL, 20 Dec 2023) USA Luge, in cooperation with the International Luge Federation (FIL), will stream extensive coverage of the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup from Lake Placid on Wednesday, December 20 at 1:00 p.m. ET on the FIL YouTube channel.

USA Luge was awarded a Market New York grant from Empire State Development and I LOVE NY/New York State's Division of Tourism through the Regional Economic Development Council initiative. This working capital funding is supporting the December 20 streaming event, in addition to the global broadcast of the World Cup competition in Lake Placid, which allowed for the event to take place.

Athletes from the United States earned a total of five medals during the Lake Placid World Cup, including a gold for the men’s doubles team of Zack DiGregorio (Medway, Mass.) and Sean Hollander (Lake Placid, N.Y.).

The competitions took place on December 8-9 at the Olympic Sports Complex at Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid. Between competition heats, crowds were able to stay warm and dine at the newly renovated Mountain Pass Lodge at the base of the track or enjoy early season cross country skiing, thanks to state-of-the-art snowmaking capacity.

“The Lake Placid World Cup was a huge success, and our streaming event captures that excitement, along with the natural beauty of Lake Placid and the Olympic Region,” said USA Luge CEO Jim Leahy. “It’s also important to recognize and thank the State of New York for its commitment to winter sports in the North Country.”
