Korean Luge Federation supports youth from Thailand
Pyeongchang (FIL/07 Oct, 2022) The Korean Luge Federation (KLF) organised a joint training camp between young Thai athletes and the Korean luge team in Pyeongchang (KOR).
In cooperation with the Korean Sports and Olympic Committee (KSOC), KLF organised a joint training camp for its own young athletes and young Thai athletes in Pyeongchang from 13 to 30 September.
The aim was to give athletes from Asian countries, where there are no training facilities for luge, a chance. Two Thai athletes (a young man and a young woman) had already been invited to a training camp in Pyeongchang twice and this time they were able to learn even more about luge through the systematic and high-quality training.
The President of Korea Luge Federation, FIL Vice President for Asia, Mrs. Jay Jieun Park reported: "Our joint traing camp between Korean national team and Thailand young kids was a full success for both team. They could have learned a lot from advanced traing sessions organized by coaches from Korean team. And this would be not the only and last invitation. We are planning to support them constantly, and our wishing goal is that they can raise their performance to the level for Gangwon 2024."
The young lugers will compete at the FIL School in Sigulda (LAT) before the end of October and their first race at international level is scheduled for December this year at the Youth A Continental Cup in Pyeongchang.
