Junior World Cup kicks off from November 30 to December 3 at Utah Olympic Park
Park City (FIL/19 Nov 2023) From Thursday, November 30 to Sunday, December 3, the junior luge athletes will be coming to North America for the first World Cup. The first races will be held at Utah Olympic Park, the venue of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Park City, Utah. From December 6 to 10, the second Junior World Cup will take place in Whistler, Canada, on the 2010 Olympic track.
The program includes the junior men's and women's singles races as well as the men's and women's doubles.
Among those expected from the U.S. are 2022 Junior World Championships bronze medalist Matt Greiner (Park City, Utah) and Aidan Mueller (West Islip, N.Y.), who switched to men's singles with partner Frank Ike (Lititz, Pa.) after a career in men's doubles. Ike, who was named to the national team this season, is currently competing in men's doubles with Dana Kellogg (Chesterfield, Mass.).
The 2023 Junior Junior Championships bronze medalists, Marcus Mueller (Brookfield, Wisc.) and Ansel Haugsjaa (Framingham, Mass.), will represent the team in men's doubles. The duo is the reigning USA Norton Junior Champions and finished third overall in the 2023 Junior World Cup standings.
