Altenberg (FIL/19.12.2024) The FIL Youth A Continental Cup came to an end after two days of intense competition at the SachsenEnergie Eiskanal Altenberg. Young lugers from across Europe showed their talent and determination, with German athletes dominating on their home track and taking the top spots in most events.

Women's Single: A German Triumph

The women's event saw an impressive German triple victory, led by Lara Hartmann. Hartmann's consistency and speed earned her a gold medal with a time of 1:21.672. Luise Röder followed close behind to take silver, just 0.075 seconds back. Leana Meier completed the podium, 0.138 seconds behind Hartmann.

Men's Single: Germany Leads the Way, Austria Makes a Mark

Germany's Tizian Grancagnolo took gold in the men's singles with a dominant performance and a time of 1:26.371. His teammate Jayden Laukner took silver, while Austria's Moritz Achenmueller added an international flavor to the podium with a strong bronze finish just 0.423 seconds behind Grancagnolo.

Women's double: Polish power takes gold

Poland's Zuzanna Jedrzejczyk and Oliwia Dawidowska took the victory in the women's double with a winning time of 1:15.425. The German pairs Luise Roeder and Maria Schneider and Noemi Lietz and Regina Goldbrunner put in a remarkable performance to take silver and bronze. The victory of the Polish duo emphasized the international competitiveness of the event.

Men's Doubles: Slovakian Strength Shines on a Podium Dominated by Germany

Anton Krügerke and Jonathan Wiese of Germany showed precision and teamwork, taking first place in the men's doubles with a time of 1:14.755. Slovakia's Bruno Mick and Viktor Varga put in an impressive performance to take the silver medal just 0.255 seconds behind the leaders. The German team of Kilian Pangerl and Samuel Greene rounded off the podium with bronze.

“The FIL Youth A Continental Cup is an important platform for promoting the next generation of luge athletes. The performances we saw here in Altenberg were simply extraordinary,” said race director Sören Schmiedl. ”It is inspiring to see so much talent and dedication in these young competitors. The organizers from Altenberg have put on a great event.”

The results in Altenberg underline Germany's strong position in youth luge, while the performances of athletes from Poland, Slovakia and Austria highlight the growing continental competitiveness of the sport.
