The History of Luge

Berchtesgaden (FIL) The International Luge Federation, FIL started a video series "History of Luge" on its YouTube channel. In different episodes, the series deals with Olympic medal winners and with the old sleds of yesterday and the rockets of today. The series features different athletes, some special luge families and insights into the traditional winter sport, which can be described as the oldest winter sport or even the fastest sport on ice.

There are many technology changes in Luge over the years. The tracks have changed from natural snowy trails to modern artificial iced speed tracks and the old sleds of yesterday were replaced by modern rockets of today. New sports - Team relay and Sprint races: Since the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, the luge team relay has been part of the Olympic programme.
