FIL Summer Training Camp

Smrozovka (FIL/12 July 2023) From June 8 to 17, 2023, FIL Summer Training Camps will take place first in Smrozovka (CZE) and then in Oberhof (GER).
The goal of the training camps for luge athletes of different nations is to improve the athletic level of the athletes of the FIL groups in order to prepare them for the upcoming luge season. In addition, it is intended to motivate the athletes and provide them with knowledge, skills and tools for training at home.
The idea for the FIL Team Summer Camps came from FIL Development Manager Fred Zimny and FIL Vice President Sport Claire Del Negro. The first camps took place in the summer of 2021.
Fred Zimny is convinced: "The summer camps should increase the professionalism of the FIL teams. The level of the FIL athletes should be raised so that they will not only be able to participate in FIL events in the future but will also be able to improve their successes and results".

In the past two years, further measures have been implemented to increase the athletic level and professionalism of the FIL teams. These include athletic tests with age-dependent minimum requirements for the athletes, individual training programs, a code of conduct for the athletes during their membership in the team as well as improved equipment for the lugers in the FIL team.
