FIL decides to standardize sleds
Lake Placid (FIL/15 June 2024) From the 2026/2027 season onwards, sled parts for the international luge elite and later also for the junior athletes are to be standardized and made more accessible for developing luge nations. This was decided by the delegates of 27 member nations of the International Luge Federation, FIL Congress in Lake Placid, USA, on June 15, 2024.
Standardized sled dimensions should enable all nations and manufacturers to build identical sleds. Compatibility and interchangeability between manufacturers and nations should enable competitive material for all.
The FIL will soon publish information on suppliers of materials and equipment on its website.
