FIL Announces Survey on Sports Integrity for National Member Federations

Stephen Harris

Berchtesgaden (FIL/04 Jul 2024) The International Luge Federation (FIL) is pleased to announce the launch of a comprehensive survey on sports integrity for all national member federations (NFs). This survey aims to gain an in-depth understanding of current measures and needs in the areas of safe sport and sports integrity.

Stephen Harris, FIL Sport Integrity Manager states “collaboration with all NFs is crucial to identify what is already working, where gaps exist, and what additional needs must be addressed. This survey represents the first step in understanding the specific requirements of each NF regarding safe sport and sports integrity.” This will enable the FIL Sports Integrity Department to provide targeted support and ensure the right tools and resources are available to develop and implement effective frameworks for safe sport and sports integrity.

Claire DelNegro, Vice President Sport

As emphasized by Stephen Harris and FIL Vice President of Sport, Claire DelNegro, at the recently held 2024 FIL Congress, the survey results and feedback from all NFs are of great importance to help move this initiative forward. The FIL is aware that our national sports federations are at different stages of developing protection measures in the areas of safe sport and sports integrity. These insights are crucial to strengthen and effectively support the prevention, education, and response to issues of safe sport and sports integrity at all FIL-sanctioned events and to best assist our NFs in providing the most effective tools and resources to strengthen safe sport and sport integrity at the national and regional levels.

The FIL NF Sport Integrity Needs Assessment Survey was sent out by July 1, 2024, to all FIL NFs and be open to complete until July 31, 2024. The results will be collected, analyzed, and a roadmap will be developed on how to best strengthen safe sport and sport integrity across identified areas. The target audience of the survey is aimed at the General Secretaries and/or Executive Directors, but we are encouraging collaboration across their NF, including staff, board members, athlete representatives, coaches, and other stakeholders, to ensure the survey is completed as thoroughly as possible.

The FIL thanks all NFs for taking the time during July to complete the survey conscientiously as we continue to strive in building a positive, safe, and trusted sport across the sport of Luge.
