Daria Obratov awarded Fair Play Prize

Daria Obratov Preis

Vienna (RWH) Daria Obratov, Croatia’s first female luge athlete to compete in the Winter Olympic Games, has been honoured by the European Fair Play Movement (EFPM). The 30-year-old athlete, who is currently competing for the Netherlands in the Viessmann World Cup, has been awarded the EFPM’s Spirit of Fair Play prize, which honours athletes who make a unique gesture in the world of sport.

At a race in Calgary (CAN) during the Olympic winter season, Daria Obratov lent her sled to Shiva Keshavan at the last minute, enabling the Indian athlete to compete in the Nations Cup for his chance to qualify for the Olympics. Thanks to Obratov’s selfless act, Keshavan was able to qualify for the Winter Olympic Games for the sixth time. Daria Obratov was also able to participate in the Winter Games in PyeongChang (KOR), where she finished in 27th place. Daria Obratov is not announced to compete in Whistler.
