Austria breaks German dominance in mixed relay

Mixed Singles, Team Austria, Pyeongchang 2025

Pyeongchang (FIL/16 Feb 2025) In the third mixed race of the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup presented by SKECHERS, Austria was able to present itself as the fastest team for the first time. Austria 2 with Wolfgang Kindl and Lisa Schulte won with a 0.222-second lead over Max Langenhan and Merle Fräbel of Germany 1 and Germany 2 with Felix Loch and Julia Taubitz (0.274 seconds back). “It was a really close race, but we are incredibly happy about our first victory in this competition,” said Kindl happily. The man of the World Cup weekend was Wolfgang Kindl. He won the singles and doubles on Saturday, February 15, and then took second place in the mixed doubles and first place in the mixed singles on Sunday.

The two hundredths of a second deficit of the German team was due to World Champion Langenhan: “I woke up too late, so I didn't hit the touchpad properly.” Nevertheless, after three mixed events, he concluded: “These races are a lot of fun.” Fourth place went to the Latvian siblings Kristers Aparjods and Kendija Aparjode (0.545). Behind them came the second Austrian team with David Gleirscher and Hannah Prock (0.577) ahead of the US team (Tucker West/Ashley Farquharson; 0.601) ahead of the first mixed pair Alex Ferlazzo/Natalie Maag (Australia/Switzerland; 0.639).
