500 days to the start of Gangwon 2024 Youth Olympic Games

Gangwon (FIL) "Grow together, shine forever" - this is the slogan for the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG), unveiled 500 days before the countdown to the Games begins on September 6, 2022.

"The slogan expresses the central ideas of the Games' vision: 'Growth, Coexistence, Harmony and Future' through the message of spirit and hope for the future and the spirit of growing young people. This coincides with the organizing committee's vision: 'Youth celebrate peaceful coexistence and unity through sports to build a better future together,'" said Kim Chulmin, secretary general of YOGOC.

The slogan was chosen based on feedback from a diverse group of people of different genders, ages and countries of origin.

Gangwon 2024 aims to provide special opportunities for young people to grow not only through sports but also through education at all stages of preparations for the Games, while spreading Olympic values.

The Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games will be held from January 19 to February 1, 2024, and will benefit from the legacy of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games by using some of the same venues for the YOG. Some 1,900 athletes from 81 National Olympic Committees are expected to participate. The last Winter YOG was held in Lausanne, Switzerland, in January 2020.
